We took our first family trip to NYC recently! (This was also my first time going with Chris!) We got on the commuter train in New Canaan and rode for an hour to Grand Central Station. Autumn loved the train ride! She really enjoyed looking out the window and eating snacks the whole way.
This trip was mostly to see what it was like riding the train and taking a 2 year old to the city... the only things we had planned were to visit the Kinokuniya bookstore, Disney store and to eat lunch. Main thing we learned: Don't take the stroller next time! It was nice so you didn't have to carry Autumn through the city, but most places we went into didn't have a lot of room for it inside.
I loved seeing all the cute stuff at Kinokuniya and Disney, and we also went in the Line store briefly. I had never been there before and I really like the designs! Plus, they had all the giant cute characters to pose with which was really fun! Autumn loved the giant castle at the Disney store, and she also saw someone demonstrating how to use the sphero BB-8 and was really excited to watch that.
We had lunch at Paris Baguette and when we walked in Autumn recognized the place immediately from Atlanta visits... A lady in line told me the "Oh - desserts!!!" face Autumn made when we walked in was hilarious. She picked out her own pastry: she requested a limited edition mini croissant with strawberries and cream. She has good taste!
Chris gets the super dad award for being patient and helpful as I browsed cute stuff... And Autumn was really well behaved even on the train ride home despite being super sleepy. I look forward to going back again soon and enjoying the spring weather in the city!
