I've been really surprised by how many beautiful bright pink cherry blossoms, dogwoods and other trees and flowers are all over New Canaan (and surrounding cities too!). While spring has been a little over cast and cold so far, the gorgeous pink blooms really help brighten up things!
It's been interesting to see all the different local trees and plants that weren't as common in Atlanta. For instance, I'm most familiar with Yoshino cherry trees from living in Georgia... but in New Canaan I've noticed the majority of the cherry blossoms are from Kwanzan cherry trees. This is my first time experiencing that type of tree and it's really lovely!! The blooms are very fluffy and bright pink, and the petals look so cheerful lining yards and sidewalks when they fall. The majority of the photos I've taken above feature this type of tree (and were taken at Mead Park). Unfortunately, most were taken on my iPhone instead of my Canon so they aren't the best photos... but trying to capture all these lovely trees has inspired me to start carrying my real camera more so I don't miss anything!
